About

Valérie L’Heureux is a language nerd and the mom of lovely twins. She is also a Ph.D. Candidate in social and cultural analysis at Concordia University interested in transnational social movements’ strategies and influence, the politics of radical internationalism, and relational ethics. Her thesis focus on the decolonial praxis of the Global Left and militant ethnography. 

Valérie is currently working on a research project on philanthrocapitalism in Africa and coediting a book on social movements in Paraguay (Palgrave Macmillan, forthcoming). She holds a BA in International Studies and an MA in Political Science. 

Before “going back to school,” she has worked for a decade in network management for non-governmental organizations, including as Secretary-General of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) and Coordinator of Québec International Trade.
